Girl Scouts volunteer opportunity

At the April meeting, Michele De'Brabant told us about an opportunity to volunteer with Girl Scouts jewelry-making events so the girls can earn their jewelry badge.  Click this link to read all about it and to find out how you can help!

Call for technology testers

Hi!  This is Judy Menting.

At the visioning session, there were several people who said that they would like to be able to participate in committees, but the distance or the time did not work.  They suggested using technology to bridge the gap.

I need a small group of technology testers:
2 - apple people
2 - windows people
2 - android people
2 - non-techy people

I want to figure out what technology we can recommend to the society and come up with some standard procedures and instructions that LBS members can use with minimal fuss and maximal impact.  I need a commitment of 4 hours in the next 8 weeks.  Some of the time will be doing research, some doing actual practice, some doing teaching, and some doing writing.  If you can help, please email me at morningprayers@gmail.com!  Thanks!

Survey/Visioning Session results

Recently we had an online survey and a program devoted to what the vision of our Society should be.  The results have been tabulated, and the ideas have been transcribed.  Click the following links to check everything out:

The Next Meeting is...

May 21, 2012
Multicultural and inspiring!

Michelle Boice from Beads of Hope Africa will be our presenter.  Click the link to the left then "Our Story" in the menu below the logo to read all about Beads of Hope Africa and what they do.  From their website, their mission is:  1) To empower women currently living in poverty through economic opportunity.  2) To provide scholarships for orphans, the most vulnerable population, from a future life of poverty through education and career opportunity.

Join us for a talk that's sure to be touching, inspiring, and heart-warming

Table Talk for May will be "International Flavors".  Bring in a piece with ethnic beads and/or an ethnic feel.  It doesn't have to be from Africa - any country counts!

Note:  As we discussed at the April meeting, Traci will be taking pictures of your piece with your nametag so we can have a slideshow during the Table Talk portion of the program so we can more easily see the pieces.  Please come early and stick around for a few seconds while Traci takes the picture.

The Last Meeting was...

The first hands-on of the year!

A while ago we did a spiral rope bracelet, and it was widely popular.  This time we learned the flat spiral stitch.

Here's what the final project looks like (colors varied and were spectacular!):

To give us more time for the project, Table Talk was, um, tabled this month.
