Our Mission
Are you passionate about beading? Just getting started? Haven't
tried it yet, but interested? This is the group for you. The Loose Bead Society of Greater Milwaukee is a
fellowship of kindred spirits that began in 1999 with the purpose of sharing and
promoting the creation of beautiful beadwork. We take pleasure in our art and
in each other's company. We invite you to join us and do the same.
We Need You
The 2008 Bead and Button Show is
coming up fast. As in past years, the Loose Bead Society will be manning a
booth doing package check and selling raffle tickets. We are looking for
volunteers to help with this event. You'll have a great time, meet lots of
interesting people and help raise some money for our society. See our Help

Calling All Beaders!
Beginning on Monday, March 24th we are conducting a “casting
call” for all beaders nationwide and in Canada to enter Interweave’s
inaugural Bead Star
competition.
 The
Bead Star
challenge will reward the best and brightest bead jewelry designers from around
the US and Canada with amazing prizes, professional recognition, and the chance
to appear in Interweave’s newest, most original and anticipated special issue
magazine ever, Bead Star!
Every project showcased in the magazine will be a winning design and the coveted
cover piece will feature our ultimate Bead Star’s winning project.
The deadline to enter an original beaded jewelry design is May
6th. The judges will be the readers of Beading Daily. They will cast their
votes for their favorite designs from among several design element categories:
- The “polls” will be open from June 12th – June 18th
on BeadingDaily.com
- The grand prize winner will be selected by our Platinum
sponsor, Fire Mountain Gems, who will be awarding the grand prize package of
an all expense paid 4 night 5 day trip for two to Santa Fe, New Mexico to
attend the debut of Interweave’s Bead Expo in Santa
Fe’s new convention center.
- The winner will also receive $1500 in product from Fire
Mountain Gems. This grand prize has a value of $5000.
- Bead Star
will be available in bead shops and on newsstands
worldwide in December 2008.
We are anticipating a huge response to this competition and at
your request, we’ll be providing flyers to hand out and links you can use on
your website for your customers looking for more information.
But wait! There’s more! If your customers enter the contest
– you can win too! The bead shop with the most “home bead shop” entries
will be awarded a ¼ page ad in Bead Star
and a complete set of Interweave’s Spring 09 collection of beading
books, a prize value of over $800. If your customer wins the grand prize,
your shop will be mentioned.
The contest will be announced and the rules and details will
be posted on Beading Daily on Monday. But don’t hesitate to fill your
customers in on the contest this weekend. There is no time like the present to
get them started designing and making their winning entries!

Meetings
We meet the third Monday of every month at the New Berlin Library,
15105 Library Lane, New Berlin, Wisconsin. Meetings last from 7:00 pm to
