Bead Retreat - 2008

Come one, come all!!  The Loose Bead Society 2008 Bead Retreat is coming soon.  Mark your calendars for March 14-16th, 2008 at the Racine Radisson Harbour Inn.

Schedule:

Friday, 3/14 - Getaway retreat begins in the Harbour View Room.  This evening is a "Free for All" who have signed up for any part of the retreat.  We all come together to work on projects, share techniques, and our passion for beading.  Open Beading starts at 7 pm until the late night.  This room will be available to us all weekend long for open beading!

Saturday, 3/15 - Open Beading or your choice of classes (see schedule below).  As always, our great luncheon with surprises.  We are also invited to Funky Hannah's for wine, cheese and shopping at 5:30 pm.  Special discounts will be offered just for LBS members attending the retreat.  Afterward, enjoy dinner on your own at one of the many great area restaurants, followed by Open Beading 'til the late night hours.

Sunday, 3/16 - Open Beading or your choice of classes (see schedule below).  And again, another great luncheon with surprises.  As a special treat, Amanda, owner of Funky Hannah's is offering a special Glass Paperweight Class at her hot glass shop on Sunday afternoon.  This class will be offered at both 1:30 and 2:30 and requires a separate form (see bottom of page for link).

Dabbling with Laurie Kestelman
9:30am - 12:30pm

This class will provide a chance to play with various surfaces, art materials, and technology as we create focal pieces to incorporate into art to wear. We will have glass slices, flat marbles, mica, clay and dominoes, plus some surprise items to decorate with inks, paints, stamps, fabric and image transfers from computer and printer. While the emphasis will be on producing the focal art, we will turn one sample into a pendant or earring by setting it into your choice of a super simple wire or seed bead frame. The only prerequisite is an enthusiasm for dabbling.

Students bring the following supplies:
Work surface, task light, extension cord, diagonal wire cutters, round nose & chain nose pliers, straightening pliers (if you have them), small jewelry file (or metal or ceramic nail file), ruler or tape measure, fine tipped marker, scissors (not good ones), apron, smock or old clothes, rubber gloves

Class Fee $60
