Bead Classes at Badger Association for the Blind
LBS
members are teaching bead stringing classes at the Badger Association
for the Blind. There are two classes in January with hopefully
more to come throughout the year.
The 2011 Cinderella Project
Our
jewelry was such a big hit last year that we have been asked if we
could provide more beautiful beaded jewelry for this year's prom.
Please check out the Cinderella Project MKE-Gadzuric Foundation
website for more information on what the Cinderella Project is and
bring in your donations to the Winter Bead-In or to the next meeting!
The girls really like earrings and bracelets.
Chemo Cap Project
The Loose Bead Society is working with the Reinhart Chemo Cap Crew to make and decorate hats for
women who have lost their hair due to chemotherapy. The caps help to keep their heads warm and
to help the women feel good about themselves during this traumatic time. Read more about it, see
pictures, and find out how you can contribute here.
The Cinderella Project
What is a girl to do when she is invited to the prom but her family does not have the money to get her a dress?
This is where the Cinderella Project steps in. If she qualifies, the girl is given a dress lovingly donated by
a member of the community.
A big thank you goes out to all our LBS members who created beautiful beaded jewelry for the
Cinderella Project MKE-Gadzuric Foundation.
The mission of the Gadzuric organization is to eliminate negative barriers affecting youth and their families,
replacing these obstacles by fostering self-esteem with positive experiences that build autonomy, enhancing
the community. Through the Cinderella project donated prom dresses were collected and distributed to local youth
in need in Milwaukee and surrounding areas. Through this project, eighty girls were delighted to choose a piece
of jewelry created by you to complete their Prom dress attire.
There is a Facebook
page and a photo
album of the girls in their dresses. They look so pretty and happy!
Haitian Relief Effort
In January of 2010, Loose Bead Society members assisted Bartolotta Restaurants to make a
number of beaded bracelets to aid the children of Haiti after the devastating earthquake.
