Metamorphosis - A Stage in the Life of a Butterfly or Moth
The pieces were turned in, and the votes were cast. Although there were many great entries,
Bonnie DeSautelle's piece had the most votes! Susan Beal, last year's Members' Choice Award winner,
crowned Bonnie with the Challenge Tiara.
The entries will be judged by area professionals, and winners of first, second and third places will be
announced at our meeting on August 16th.
Marlene Vail from Kalmbach just let us know about an available Associate Editor position for Bead&Button Magazine.
You can check out the job description and requirements here.
Let us know if you apply, and we'll send up good thoughts for you!
Full of Chainmaille Information!
August 16th, 2010
Our presenter will be Rebeca
Mojica, Chainmaille Artist, Instructor and Owner of
Blue Buddha Boutique. We have heard many
times from the membership that you'd like to see chainmaille, and we can think of none better to present.
The theme for August's Table Talk will be Beads reborn! Take an old piece of jewelry you don't like
or that is broken, take a picture of it, tear it apart, and remake it into something better. We would love
to see the "before" picture along with the "after" effect.
Knotty but nice!

Micro-macrame. No tiny 70's-era plant hangers here! This program was a hands on project making a
micro-macrame bracelet. This is a great way to combine beads with a fiber art.
The theme for July's Table Talk was... two for the price of one!
1. Patriotic.
2. Beading on a Budget. A bracelet or necklace costing $5 or less for all of the supplies.
Extra points for a piece that's Patriotic on a budget!
Did you know that Kalmbach, our corporate sponsor, has a free member access section of their website for all of their jewelry magazines? If you subscribe to the magazine you get even more content. At the following websites, you can learn more about the member access content, sign up for an account, and sign up for their newsletters: Art Jewelry, Bead & Button, BeadStyle.
LBS has set up a Facebook page to encourage communication between members. If
you don't have a Facebook account yet, here's a
site
to help you get started. Facebook is a social-networking site that allows rapid
communication. Many businesses such as Lark Books and Fusion Beads use Facebook.
Worried about security? On Facebook you control your privacy levels and you can
control who becomes your friend. Facebook - it's not just for kids.
You do not have to be a member of Facebook to see our pictures. Click any of the pictures
from the program meetings or events to be taken to that album. You cannot comment if you're not
a member, but you can see all the fun we've had!
We have another page for the Global Bead Society. Please check that one out, too!
