Loose Bead News

The search is over!

We have found our Membership Coordinator!  Judy Menting has answered the call, and we welcomed her with open arms at the Board meeting on January 9th.  Don't know who she (or any of the Board members) is?  You can see names and pictures of all Board members on the About page.

Hot off the Presses!

The final newsletter of the year is available!  Click the link below to see what we've been up to in the last few months - the October bead-in, the Kalmbach dinner, the President's Trip, two very successful sales... we've been quite busy!  There are also a few new columns - tips and tricks and Pippentooth (you have to click to find out what that one is all about!).

Winter 2011

Other newsletter news:

Inclement weather (i.e. "The White Death"):

If the weather is so bad that we decide to cancel a program, we will make every effort to notify you.  There will be a notice on Channels 4, 6, and 12, there will be an announcement on the website's home page, we'll post it on Facebook, and there will be an e-mail blast.  Check your e-mail or the website before leaving home or work.  We will also try to call members without e-mail.  But let common sense prevail - if you do not feel safe driving because of snow or ice stay home.  We want you safe to bead another day!

The Next Meeting is...

Hot, hot, HOT!
February 20, 2012
Our own Tammy Rae Wolter is a borosilicate artist.  What does that mean?  Come to the February program to find out!  She will be presenting and giving a talk describing the art glass that she creates.  She plans to "demonstrate" what she does using still photos of how different glass items develop such as a marble, a pendant, and a bead.  She's also going to explain how things are layered and how the different glass moves for imploded designs.

Tammy      Beads

The table talk theme for February is jewelry created using art glass.  We're always looking for different ways to show off these beautiful pieces - show us what you did with yours and we'll show you what we did with ours.  Bonus points if you bring in pieces using Tammy Rae's beads!

The Last Meeting was...

"You've got it - now flaunt it!"
January 16, 2012

This program was a panel discussion discussing tips and tricks for boosting your jewelry sales, apart from showing up and sticking a price tag on your stuff.  Judy Markworth talked about branding (having a common look and feel, not what happens to those poor cows), Traci Otte talked about using social media (such as Facebook) to increase business, Marilee Rockley talked about successfully selling on Etsy, Joan Jeselun talked about recordkeeping and how important that is, Julia Gerlach gave us some tips on how to make your mark in magazines (and she should know - look in your Bead&Button masthead!), and Judy Menting talked about some little things that can help you make the sale.  Click any of the below pictures to go to our Facebook album - if there's not a full picture of the slide, there's text that goes along with the picture that will give you an idea of what was talked about.  We had many people at the meeting, and so many people took notes!

The Table Talk theme for January was "Snow and Ice", crystal and pearl edition.  We had quite a full table, from a Crystal Clay pendant (want to learn how to make some thing like Michele De'Brabant did?  Take the class at the February Bead-in!) to crystal covered eggs to snowflakes... and more.  Much more.  Click any of the pictures to see the rest of them on our Facebook album!

Wowzers!

What a sale!

On January 17th, Knot Just Beads hosted another LBS Member Only shop night.  I was the first one there, but I was not alone for long!  By the time I left there were members hoppin' all over that store taking advantage of some wonderful sales!  I know I walked out with some very beautiful beads. From what I saw on others' trays, everyone else did, too!  Thanks, Kim!
