Our class at Brookfield Public Library was a great success.  We had 19 students, including our library contact, who took attendance and then wanted to stay and make a bracelet.  We got a lot of positive feedback from the students.  We are negotiating an additional class in Spring 2018.

Many thanks to the LBS volunteers:  Maureen Bartz, Lorene Dalsant, Deb Dunn, Shirley Fishman, Amy Thomas, Kate Van Eyck and Suzanne Wegner.

If you would like to volunteer for the next BPL class, e-mail me at communityservice@loosebeadsociety.org and I'll put your name on my mailing list.

Paracord Bracelets

Our Veterans project on 19 July was a success! We had 6 veterans (3 men and 3 women) and everyone completed their bracelet. I had so many kits left over that I encouraged the veterans to take a kit home and make another bracelet. Susie (last name?) from LBS donated her entire stash of completed paracord bracelets for the veterans, and we handed those out as well. We even found a paracord bracelet for the VA security guard that was a perfect fit and matched his uniform!

VA Project Mar 1 by Pat Harvey

Loose Bead Society volunteers Karen Weinberg, Shirley Fishman, Suzanne Wegner, Lorene Dalsant, Deb Dunn and Debra Karius gave a hands-on class at the Veterans Craft Center on March 1. We showed the veterans how to make a paracord bracelet using a fixture. Twenty-one vets signed up for the class! Fortunately, our volunteers brought a few extra fixtures and we could accommodate about 15 veterans.

Everyone had a blast! All the veterans went home with a bracelet--one student made 3 bracelets. They really appreciated our class and asked us to come back again and demonstrate more stitches.

After everyone left, we even helped Marissa Straub, the VA Craft Coordinator, who made a red/white bracelet in honor of the Wisconsin Badgers.

If you would like to participate in future VA classes, e-mail Pat Harvey, Community Service co-chair, to get on the mailing list.
