Bead Society of Greater Milwaukee Monthly Board Meeting
December 3, 2007- Uno's Restaurant in Brookfield

President:
- We
received a $500 check from Northwest Mutual as the result of a grant that Ann
Cook submitted for volunteering. Congratulations!

Revisited the party for December and who is bringing what food items. Renne will
send all members an updated list in the next few days.
-
Rings and Things wants to sponsor the website and Rhonda is corresponding with
them to clarify what that exactly means.
Vice
President/ Special Events;
-
Suzanne needs to get a good picture of Angie's metal clay sample for the retreat
class so it can be put on the website with the others.
- Ann
will update the retreat committee and teachers twice a month concerning class
signups for the retreat.
March 1st is the cutoff date for signing up.
Vice
President/ Programming:
-
Renee went through what we have so far for door prizes for the December party.
We have 2 denim shirts, 4 calendars,
subscriptions to BeadStyle and Bead and Button, a book, a $25 certificate
to Funky Hannah's and possibly some totes.
- For
the silent auction, we have 2 felted purses from Toni Fohey, a handwoven scarf
from Deb Bednarek, various beading supplies and a fancy checkbook cover from
Laurie Kestelman, something enamelled from Renee Corya, earrings from Cindy
Collins, a knitting gift basket from Pat Fricano, with more to come. Items will
start at 1/2 the value of the item.
Deb will help Julie in setting up the auction.

"Loop" yarnstore has opened at 2963 Humboldt and is worth a visit.

The community rooms where Renee lives are available for possible future
projects and/or classes that we may want to offer.
Parking is available and they require a $15 deposit.
Secretary:
-
Nottingham Beads gave Deb the gift certificates and pieces from the Vintaj
challenge. She
will return these to the owners at the December meeting and they've all been
contacted regarding this. The winning pieces are on display in the store
throughout the month of December and pictures are on Nottingham's website.

Discussion on past and future LBS members' only sales at the various local
stores. The
society has never been responsible for members attending and has made that known
when these events were set up. It was decided to handle this on an individual
basis as stores try to set up events for 2008.
Membership;
- A
few more renewals came in since the meeting.
- The
bylaw amendment passed at the last meeting and Julie is working on writing that
up for the official bylaws.

Rhonda will check with the post office to see if we can get another key for the
post office box.
Treasurer:
- Our
accounts stands at $1668.16 before December activity.
- The
catagories and funds for 2007 were examined by the board and % of the total
budget for each category will be examined next month for the 2008 financial
plan.

Discussion on membership owned versus non profit organziations for the 501C
paperwork.
Website:
- Pat
has the retreat information on the website.
- She
wants to add information for 2008; programs, dates of meetings, etc., and will
add that as she receives it.
Newsletter:
-
Cindy Collins was welcomed as our new newsletter editor. We're glad to have you
join us!

Discussion as to who needs to send her which articles for the December
newsletter.

Discussion on where to get it printed, etc.
