Bead Society of Greater Milwaukee President
Rhonda Kutz welcomed everyone and called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.
She thanked everyone for their volunteer efforts on behalf of the society
for the various events in 2007. Whether donating items for raffles or the silent
auction, manning the booth at Bead and Button or the Milwaukee Bead show, or
helping on a committee; all of this helps the society be a strong and beneficial
organization. Rhonda
explained how the silent auction bidding works and encouraged members to
participate in it throughout the evening. She also
urged members to read the meeting minutes on the website from the monthly
meetings as well as the monthly board meetings. Topics are discussed at the
board level that many members are not aware of and may be interested in. The Bead and
Button 2008 class catalog is out and registration is next month. Check out the

report: Debbie
thanked everyone, on behalf of Nottingham Beads, for their efforts in the Vintaj
challenge. The winners were: Pictures of
the winning pieces are on our website as well as Nottingham Bead's website and
on display throughout December at Nottingham Beads. Vice
President- Special Events' Report: Suzanne
reminded everyone that we will have a table at the Milwaukee Bead Show on
February 24th and need volunteers. We'd also like to see member's work displayed
there. The show will be at the Windham hotel on Howell and Layton this year. Renew your
membership now to be included on the membership list that the people at Bead and
Button receive before their registration begins on January 15th. Members are to
receive a waiver of the $25 registration fee. Our bead
retreat is March 14-16 and class samples were on display at the meeting. The
deadline for signing up is March 1st. You need to reserve your hotel room by
February 28th. Vice
President- Programming's Report: Renee
went through the first few programs planned for 2008.
The first one in January is our annual sale for members only at Knot Just
Beads; there is no program at the New Berlin Library in January.
February's topic is the bead business; the ins and outs, advantages and
disavantages of starting up your own bead business. March's program will cover gemstones. Membership:

thanked those who have already renewed thier membership for 2008.
She reminded everyone that there is a suggestion box on the membership
table as well as business cards for the Loose Bead Society. The Friends
of the Library store was open this evening for our members. The ornaments on the
tree in the meeting room were also for sale. Newsletter:
Cindy was not at the meeting tonight but the newsletter was mailed and
will be arriving in the next day or so. Website:
Pat continues to update the website as she receives information; keep checking
it periodically for the latest information on programs and events. The evening
was spent in good conversation with tasty treats, fun door prizes and
competitive bidding on silent auction items. Approximately 35-40 members were in
attendance. Happy
