Loose Bead Society of Greater Milwaukee

Monthly meeting Minutes- December 18, 2007
New Berlin Public Library  7:00 p.m.

President Rhonda Kutz welcomed everyone and called the meeting to order at 7:00 p.m.  She thanked everyone for their volunteer efforts on behalf of the society for the various events in 2007. Whether donating items for raffles or the silent auction, manning the booth at Bead and Button or the Milwaukee Bead show, or helping on a committee; all of this helps the society be a strong and beneficial organization.

Rhonda explained how the silent auction bidding works and encouraged members to participate in it throughout the evening.

She also urged members to read the meeting minutes on the website from the monthly meetings as well as the monthly board meetings. Topics are discussed at the board level that many members are not aware of and may be interested in.

The Bead and Button 2008 class catalog is out and registration is next month. Check out the offered classes now!

Vice President- Programming's Report:  Renee went through the first few programs planned for 2008.  The first one in January is our annual sale for members only at Knot Just Beads; there is no program at the New Berlin Library in January.  February's topic is the bead business; the ins and outs, advantages and disavantages of starting up your own bead business.  March's program will cover gemstones.

Membership:  Julie thanked those who have already renewed thier membership for 2008.  She reminded everyone that there is a suggestion box on the membership table as well as business cards for the Loose Bead Society.

The Friends of the Library store was open this evening for our members. The ornaments on the tree in the meeting room were also for sale.

Newsletter:  Cindy was not at the meeting tonight but the newsletter was mailed and will be arriving in the next day or so.

Website: Pat continues to update the website as she receives information; keep checking it periodically for the latest information on programs and events.

The evening was spent in good conversation with tasty treats, fun door prizes and competitive bidding on silent auction items. Approximately 35-40 members were in attendance.

Happy holidays to all!

Respectfully submitted,
