Loose Bead Society of Greater Milwaukee Monthly Meeting Minutes
September 17, 2007
New Berlin Public Library
President/ Vice President’s Report: Suzanne
Leberman ran tonight’s meeting due to Rhonda Kutz’s absence.
- Elections for Loose Bead Society officers
are next month. Offices include
President, Vice President of Programming, Vice President of Special Events,
Treasurer and Secretary. Other positions (such as newsletter, website and
membership) are appointed positions. Each officer gave a brief rundown of their
duties. Anyone interested in
running for any office has up until the beginning of October’s meeting.
Please contact an officer if you plan to run so your name can be on the
ballot.
-The installation pieces members created a few years ago are now on display at
the Oak Creek Library for the month of September. Thanks to Renee Corya and
Liann Scharnberg for working together to display our work. Pictures of the
display will soon be on the website.
- The retreat committee is finalizing details for the 2008 bead retreat.
Invitations will be mailed to all members in early November and the class
samples will be on display at the November meeting and put on the website.
Secretary’s Report:
-Debbie reminded members of the Vintaj challenge that Nottingham Beads has
organized for our members. Entrees are due to Nottingham Beads by the November meeting
or can be dropped off at the November meeting.
- Northwest Beads in Menomonee Falls is having an LBS Only sale on Saturday,
October 20th, from 4:30 to 7:30 p.m.
Expect great deals, food and door prizes.
Flyers were on the membership table and directions are on the website.
-Please consider donating any item for the Silent Auction we will have at our
December meeting. Last year was the
first year we ran this event and proceeds went to the program Rhonda ran for
patients at Children’s Hospital.
Treasurer’s Report:
-The LBS account balanced out at $2549.46 in July and $2433.73 at the end of
August. Ann is working on a budget
to clearly show how membership dues are spent and used as well as fund raising
proceeds.
Membership:
-Julie has copies of the updated membership directory
available for everyone at the membership table.
Website:
-Pat now has the newsletter online for everyone and an interesting list of
upcoming events in the Chicago area. She
is always looking for items of interest to add to the site.
Vice President of Programming’s Report:
-October’s program will feature polymer clay as a focal bead and
November’s program will feature faux enameling.
December we will have our annual holiday party and silent auction.
- Tonight’s program was presented by jeweler David Liska on the topic of
fabricating fine jewelry. David was
kind enough to waive his presenter fee and asked us all to vote for him in the
WISN alist contest. Thank you,
David, for a wonderful program on your work.
Approximately 40
members attended tonight’s meeting.
Respectfully
submitted,
Debbie Bednarek
