Loose Bead Society of Greater Milwaukee Board Meeting

President:

Rhonda mentioned that the April meeting date is incorrect on the website;
it should be April 21st.
-
-She received the Rings and Things cards for the April sale and will hand
them out at the April meeting. The
sale is at the Clarion hotel on April 30th from 1-5 p.m.
Vice President- Special Events:
-
Suzanne recapped the retreat complete with financial details from Ann.
All went well and it came close to breaking even financially this year.

Signups for the LBS table at the Bead and Button show will be starting;
Pat will put it on the website and Suzanne will announce it at the April
meeting. We will need table captains every day and, since Suzanne will not be
down there every day, special efforts on coordinating details will need to be
place so all runs smoothly. It was decided that the “men” will run the
package check as usual on Thursday night.

Discussion on fund raiser; what needs to be gathered for the raffle items
for the Bead and Button show. Any beads not used in the May program “Bead
Soup” will be put into kits or jars for raffling. Purchase of items from
Suzanne and Rob Jennik will replace the Cynthia Rutledge kit we had last year.
We need tickets for the raffle. The denim shirts will be for sale once again.

The installation piece (or parts of it?) will also be on display at our
table that week.

We have enough membership brochures already printed up for the Bead and
Button table .

Suzanne indicated that, due to her busy life, she will not be running for
vice president of special events in October. This includes forming and running
the retreat committee. Please consider running for this position or start
thinking of who may be a good candidate for it. These are big shoes to fill but
a very important and exciting position in our society.
Vice President- Programming:
-
Renee and Cindy laid out the budget for 2008 including program details
for each month. Discussion on costs; what amount can we reasonably afford per
month? How do other societies fund their programs?
Website:
-
Pat renewed the 12 month website contract.

Discussion on sponsorship ads on the website; decision to charge $100 a
year for these ads. These are separate from corporate memberships to the
society.
Newsletter:
-
Cindy did some price checking and Office Max gives the best rate for
printing the newsletter. Currently Cindy is folding the letters instead of
paying to have it done. Postage will go up to 41 cents instead of the bulk rate
of 29 cents until the membership raises.

Cindy needs articles for the next newsletter in EARLY May to get it out
in the timely fashion, even Rhonda’s presidential article has to be in on
time.
Treasurer:

Ann said that our balance is currently $1914.
There are a few bills and things from the retreat to still be handled.
Membership:
-
We currently have 99 members.

Julie will call Gary at Midwest Beads to set up the membership drive
event at their store. Bree will contacted and involved as well. They will need
some beadwork and a sign for the table as well as brochures. This will probably
occur the last weekend in April.
There will be a board meeting in May but
probably not in June. We will see
if we need one in July as well.
