Board Meeting- February 12, 2008

President’s report:

Bree Kleist contacted Rhonda regarding a membership drive for LBS at
Midwest Beads. Midwest Beads is
offering us space for a table on Saturdays advertising our society and promoting
membership. Julie will set this up.
- Rings and Things wants to
sponsor our website; this means they would have an ad and link on our website.
Need to decide what size ad they would have, where it would appear on the
website and how long it would run. Softflex may be doing this as well instead of
placing an ad in the newsletter. Pat will write up a proposal for them regarding
the details.
Vice President- Special Events’ Report:

Suzanne currently has no one signed up to staff our table at the
Milwaukee Bead Sale on February 24th. This will be brought up at
Monday’s membership meeting and Julie and Suzanne will coordinate getting the
supplies there needed for the table. Pat
will send an email to all members reminding them of this event as well as the
retreat and upcoming deadline for registration.

Discussion on retreat; Ann had a printout of current registrations. Ann
needs the price of the meals for the retreat as well as any other expenses.
Vice President- Programming’s Report:
-
Discussion on expenses for programming; the committee will generate a
specific budget of expenses per month for 2008.
They are meeting this Saturday. The committee will be working with
Suzanne to obtain materials for the group activity program coming up in May.
Website:

Pat explained the problems involved with the host provider and the cause
for the temporary shutdown of the site. The host provider changed platforms and our software wasn’t
recognized. All is fixed for now but the software issue may be a problem in the
future. We will possibly need to
find a member with different software for this or purchase it for the society at
some point.
Newsletter:
-
Cindy went through the different quotes she received on costs for
printing the newsletter; different papers, mail merge fees, price of a single
insert page, etc. She is still comparing different places to have it printed. It
was decided that Julie will print the address labels and mail them to Cindy for
the newsletters. Articles for the next newsletter are due February 20th
and Cindy wants to get it out the first week in March.
Treasurer’s Report:

Ann gave out handouts for the current budget and the 2008 retreat.
Discussion and clarification concerning various categories and expenses.
